Old Bird

Watching my Dad say good bye to his Mother

Walking my grandpa away from his
love for one of the last times

Grave site

Watching tears fall from my Grandpa's face
as he makes us all promise to come visit

My Grandma bought Logan this dress
the day before she died

Watching Dax say good bye. Broke my
heart he has never lost someone he
was so close to.

THEY SAY LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDACINE I THINK THAT IS WHY ME AND HER GOT ALONG SO WELL. ON SOME OF HER WORST DAYS I COULD ALWAYS GET HER TO LAUGH OR CRACK A SMILE. I LOOK OUT OVER THE CROWD TODAY AND SEE HER IN EVERYONE OF YOU HER EYES, HER SMILE. BUT WHAT I SEE MOST IS HER STORIES HER LEGACY HER LIFE LIVES ON AFTER HER. MOST OF YOU KNOW I CALL MY GRANDMA OLD BIRD I HAVE FOR THE PAST 8 YEARS. WHEN MY SON DAXTON WAS LITTLE HE HAD SO MANY GRANDMAS WE STARTED GIVING THEM NAMES SO HE COULD REMEMBER WHO WAS WHO (WE VISITED HER OFTEN) SHE SAID SHE WOULD LIKE TO BE CALLED PRETTY GRANDMA OR BEAUTIFUL GRANDMA, SO I STARTED TEASING HER ( I DID THAT OFTEN) AND SAID NO YOU ARE AN OLD BIRD JUST KIDDING AROUND ADN DAX STARTED CALLING HER OLD BIRD THAT DAY AND WE HAVE CALLED HER THAT EVER SENCE SHE HATED IT BUT LET US CALL HER THAT ANYWAY. JUST LAST WEEK MY YOUNGEST LITTLE BOY STARTED CALLING HER OLD BIRD SHE GOT A LAUGH OUT OF THAT. OH HOW SHE LOVED TO TRAVEL BY BUS, CAR. SHIP, PLANE, MOTERHOME SHE LOVED TO SEE ALL THE DIFFRENT PLACES ROAD TRIPS TO VERNAL SLEEPING IN THE CAR IF NO ROOMS WERE AVAILABE. SHE ALSO LOVED THE SLOT MACHINES IN WENDOVER OR LATE NIGHT BLACKJACK ON THE COMPUTER. I REMEMBER MY GRANDPA DRIVING HER TO WENDOVER TO PLAY THE PENNY SLOTS HE WOULD WALK THE CASINO WHILE SHE PLAYED BECAUSE HE KNEW SHE LOVED IT. CHAD AND I TOOK HER AND MY GRANDPA TO WENDOVER ONE WEEKEND TO SEE WILLIE NEILSON OH BOY DID SHE LOVE OLD WILLIES SONGS AND GRANDPA WAS RIGHT BY HER SIDE. THEY DID SO MUCH TOGETHER STORIES OF HIM PUTTING HER UP ONE SIDE OF THE HORSE AND HER FALLING RIGHT OFF THE OTHER SIDE. BOATING, SNOWMOBILING, CAMPING OR JUST SITTING ON THE FRONT PORCH WAVING GOODBYE AS YOU BACKED UP THE DRIVEWAY. STORIES OF HER BOYS DUCK HUNTING, TYING THEM TO THE FENCE, MOTORCYCLES, DINNERS, GIRLS AND PARTIES THEY THOUGHT SHE NEVER KNEW OF. SHE LOVED TO COOK FOR HER BOYS, HUSBAND AND FAMILY SHE MADE ROAST AND POTAOES BETTER THEN ANYONE. SHE WAS A GREAT COOK EVEN IF SHE PUT CARROT PUDDING IN SPAGETTI THAT NO ONE NOT EVEN THE DOG WOULD EAT. SHE WAS THE ONE I CALLED FOR HOW TO BOIL AN EGG, BAKE A POTATO, OR HOW TO CAN JUST ABOUT ANYTHING. THIS FALL WILL BE HARD NOT HAVING HER IN THE KITCHEN TELLING ME WHAT TO DO OR CALLING HER TO MAKE SURE I DONT BLOW UP THE PRESSURE COOKER. WE MADE PICKLES ONE YEAR THEY WERE SO SPICY SHE TOOK ONE BITE AND I THOUGHT SHE WAS A GONNER SHE COUGHED AND LAUGHED AND THEN COUGHED SOMEMORE. SHE LOVED TO TALK ON THE PHONE OR IN PERSON SHE WANTED TO KNOW HOW YOU WERE HOW THE KIDS WERE, SCHOOL, WORK, FAMILY, SPORTS AND WATED TO UPDATE YOU ON OHTERS HAPPINESS IF SOMEONE WAS HAVING A BABY SHE WOULD MAKE YOU GUESS WHO IT WAS. HOW SHE LOVED THE WAL MART NOT JUST BECAUSE IT WAS ONE STOP SHOPPING BECAUSE SHE SAW SO MANY PEOPLE SHE KNEW THERE. I WILL MISS THE EARLY MORNING LATE NIGHT PHONE CALLS BEACUSE I ALWAYS KNEW SHE WAS AROUND TO TALK. I HAVE HEARD MY OWN COUSINS TALK ABOUT STORIES AND MEMORIES OF HER THIS WEEK. MAKING TOAST FOR MY COUSINS AND TAKING A BITE OUT OF IT TO MAKE SURE IT WAS GOOD YOU THINK WHO WOULD DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT WELL I COULD SEE MYSELF DOING THAT. DRIVING OFF WITH LOTS OF MONEY ON THE TOP OF THE CAR BECAUSE SHE WAS BUSY BUCKLING MY COUSIN IN GOOD THING MY UNCLE FOUND IT. OR THE TIME MY LITTLE BROTHER ROLLED OUT OF HER CAR AS WE TURNED ON 3200 HE JUST ROLLED. HIDDEN CANDY THREW THE HOUSE ALWAYS CHOCOLATE. STORIES OF HER MOTHER ON HOW MUCH SHE MISSED AND LOVED HER ( I WISH I COULD HAVE MET HER I BET SHE WAS AMAZING)  STORIES OF HER BROTHERS, CHECKING THE OBITUARIES THE MAKE SURE SHE WAS NOT IN THEM, CHECKING  THE JAIL ROSTER TRUST ME SHE KNEW YOU WERE IN JAIL BEFORE YOU DID. THE ONLY TIME I HEARD MY GRANDMA SWEAR WAS WHEN I WAS LITTLE I USE TO HIDE BEHIND THE WASHED AND JUMP OUT AND SCARE HER. SHE WAS SMART LADY WHEN MOST WOMEN HER AGE WERE SCARED OF THE COMPUTER AND INTERENT  SHE DID IT ALL FROM ONLINE BANKING, ONLINE SHOPPING, TO FACEBOOK AN DGAMES. SHE HAS A LAP TOP, IPAD AND IPHONE AND DID IT ALLWITH EAS. YOU NEVER LEFT HER HOUSE EMPTY HANDED WEHTER IT WAS HAND FULLS OF COINS, FRESH VEGGIES, JAFRA, AVON, OR CLOTHING FOR YOUR KIDS YOU KNEW WOULD NOT FIT YOUR KIDS FOR YEARS. SHE CAME TO MY HOUSE THE DAY SHE DIED TO GIVE MY DAUGHTER LOGAN JELLO. POPSCICLES AND STRAWBERRIES BECAUSE SHE JUST HAD HER TONSILS OUT. I TOLD HER ONT HE PHONE THAT I WOULD COME PICK THEM UP TOMORROW BUT SHE INSISTED THEY WERE PERISABLE AND I AM SO GRATEFUL SHE DID. WHENEVER IS SEE CADILACS.
